Before the advent of DNA analysis in genealogy, there was a theory that your Thomas (Fretwell?) Phillips of Randolph Co, WV was a descendant of Rev. George Phillips of Watertown, MA. However, DNA has now disproved that theory. Three descendants of Thomas (Fretwell?) Phillips have been DNA tested and three descendants of Rev. George Phillips have been DNA tested, and their DNA does not match. The descendants of Thomas (Fretwell?) Phillips are shown in Phillips Family Group 5 and the descendants of Rev. George Phillips are shown in Phillips Family Group 30 on the Patriarchs Page at this link: https://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/p/phillips/pats.htm The DNA of these two different Phillips family groups indicates their Phillips lines are not related within thousands of years. The three DNA proven descendants of Thomas (Fretwell?)
