Phillips Obit CADMUS - Leland E. Phillips, age 90, of Cadmus died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, at Provincial House. He was born March 10, 1917, in Toledo, Ohio, to LeRoy and Jessie (Huff) Phillips. On Dec. 10, 1938, he married Helen L. Bragg in Wauseon, Ohio. She preceded him in death on Nov. 1, 2002. Leland had been employed by Bohn Aluminum for 31 years. He worked in the Shipping and Receiving Department and had served as Union Steward for 12 years. He retired in December 1981. In addition, he farmed for 14 years in the Lenawee County area. He dearly enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, and in fact had played for the Toledo Mud Hens in his early years. Leland loved to garden, fish, bowl, play cards, eat and talk. He made everyone feel like a friend. Leland is survived by a son, Dale Phillips of Cadmus; a daughter, Judy Phillips of Cadmus and Sand Lake; a brother, Gerald "Jerry" Phillips of Manchester, Tenn.; two brothers-in-law, Charles Jackson of Palmyra and Arthur "Spike" Jackson of Palmyra; a close family friend, Sandy Sebring of Sand Lake; a special nephew and run-around companion, Charles Phillips of Adrian; and many nieces, nephews and very special neighbors. In addition to his wife, Helen, he was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Arnold, and two sisters, Imojean Jackson and Vivian Jackson. A special thanks to Jayne Henry for her care when Lee was at home. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at the Provincial House of Adrian and to the nurses and staff of Hospice of Lenawee and to Dr. Siddiqi and his staff for all their wonderful care and support. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Bidwell officiating. Burial will be in Palmyra Cemetery.
