I put this out there for curiosity sake and if anyone is interested (I'm digging around White county records right now). Elizabeth Ann Philips is on the 1820 census there in Giles co., appearing to be a widow. I don't know if this is the same woman who made the reward offer, because there are just too many Elizabeth's to count. I also don't know her daughter's name, nor if she was married to Mr. Lindsey by the 1820 census, but we can assume the marriage took place by 1825. There is also a John Lindsay on the 1820 census there in Giles Co. (also a James Lindsey in White county). HOWEVER, what I am interested in is finding out if there is a relationship between the Giles county and White county Phillips in TN, as there are some court documents in White county mentioning the Phillips in Giles county (referencing them as residents of Giles county, specifically Captain Thomas Phillips). Just something I'm tossing out to see if anyone wants to discuss or comment on. Thanks, Amy. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Amy, I'm curious about the Phillips in White Co., TN, too. My Phillips ancestors lived mostly in Roane & Bledsoe counties, but they did move around and lived in both Monroe and White counties. I don't remember them living in Giles Co., but they very well could have. MY Phillips lived in SC, then moved to NC, then TN. My Phillips are very likely from the Phillips Family Group 2 on the Worldwide Phillips DNA Project, but I do not know that for sure. My Elizabeth Phillips was born 1810 or 1811 somewhere in SC. In 1834 or 1835, she was married to an Irishman named Tom Jordan. This Elizabeth and her family were still in NC. Her first child, Emaline, was born 1835 in NC. By the next census, Elizabeth was in TN. Elizabeth was either the sister or aunt of Rev. Sewell Phillips. Do any of these people fit into the families you found in White and Giles counties?
