Hi, Pat, I don't have the schedule of Zachariah's property, but here is his pension request: Zachariah Phillips S 35,559 NC In Estill County, Kentucky, on May 17, 1830, Zachariah Phillips, aged 67, appeared in court in Estill County aforesaid, and made oath: That he enlisted for 1 year in April 1781. That he joined the company of Captain Thomas Donahue on June 1st, 1781. That he enlisted in North Carolina in the company commanded by said Donahue in the Regiment commanded by Col. Henry Dickson in the line of the state of North Carolina, on the Continental establishment. That he continued to serve in said corps till the 1st of June 1782, when he was discharged from the service in South Carolina near Bacon's Bridge, but did not receive a certificate of the discharge till he arrived at Salsburry, North Carolina (Note: Salisbury is in Rowan Co NC). That his certificate was signed by Colonel Murphy on whom the command of the said regiment devolved and at the time of said Phillips discharge, Captain William Wallen had preceded said Donohoe in the command of the company. That about February 1822, he removed with his family from Monroe County, Virginia to Scott County, Virginia and from Scott County Virginia to Estill County, Kentucky in the summer of 1825 and has continued to reside in Estill County, Kentucky ever since. That his wife is dead and his children have all left him since they married, or have turned out for themselves. That he has usually followed farming as a means of livelihood and has usually made gun handles now and then. That his children being able to take care of themselves are of no charge to him. That from his advanced age, he is unable to procure a comfortable livelihood by the pursuit of any occupation. That none of his family lives with him. That his youngest child, a son, is 17 years of age. Zachariah's birth year and wife's name is established from a statement he made on behalf of his father-in-law, Israil Meadows as follows: 1838 Oct 5 - Zachariah Phillips of Estill Co, KY says on oath that he was born in the year 1763 and first became acquainted with Israil Meadows decÂ’d about 50 years ago in the County of Greenbrier, Virginia.. that he (Israil Meadows) and Barbara Meadows his widow who has signed the foregoing declaration were then living together as man and wife and continued to do so till the death of the said Izrail which took place as he (Zachariah Phillips) believes on 30 September 1827 in Estill County and that he never heard any one to question the loyality of their marriage. At the time they had several children one named Nancy who he (Zachariah) afterwards married. His wife was at that time a girl 18 or 20 and from what he has always understood as to the age of his deceased wife she would if living be 60 years old the next spring. As far as I know, we do not have any male Phillips descendants of Zachariah and Nancy Meadows Phillips in the Phillips Worldwide DNA Project. If you know any male Phillips descendants, please encourage them to join. It would be interesting to see if they match any of the 232 members of the project. I had it but cannot find it, so would appreciate getting it from someone. Also, where did he live when he moved to Estill Co. KY? I would be happy to exchange information on him with anyone that wants to. Pat Johnson --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Yahoo! Search.
