Your Reuben could not be a brother--IF a Thomas Phillips (Wales) proves to be the father of our John, as Thomas' will seems to indicate. However we are researching whether the father of our John is in fact another John Phillips (Ireland). We do not yet have proof or descendants but there is evidence that this might be the truth. In which case there might be a Reuben. Do you know anything of Reuben's parentage?
