    1. Re: [PHILLIPS] false information about Phillips Family of West Virginia
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/nNABAIB/5608.1.1.1.1.3.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Someone posted a question to my message which made it onto the mailing list but not onto this board. Since it was an intelligent question, I thought it would be a good idea to post my reply here so that everyone can see the answer. The question was "If the name of the participant is never published, thereby assuring privacy, then how can other people make use of the information?" The answer is that the participant is notified by familytreedna of any genetic matches. The participant can then contact anyone who matches his DNA, if the person who matches has signed a release. This way people who WANT to can share family history information. In addition, participants are requested to post their earliest known Phillips ancestor on the DNA chart, which is published at the Phillips Worldwide website. If you look at the DNA chart and see the name of your Phillips ancestor, then you can then join the project yourself and get in contact with the person who shares your earliest k! nown Phillips ancestor. Alternatively, you can simply contact Shannon Phillips, the administrator of the project, and ask to be put in touch with the person who shares your earliest known Phillips ancestor. Sincerely, Nancy Kiser
