There are a couple of things I would like to reemphasize in connection to your subscription, that a lot of people don't seem to be aware of. First of all, there is both a surname mailing list - the Phillips list. There is also a Phillips message board. Those of you reading this are subscribed to the mailing list, NOT the board. You can not subscribe to the board, you can however sign up ON the board for notifications when a message is posted. The mailing List is a separate entity. There are anywhere between 500-600 subscribers at any one time. You can help me a lot if when you change internet service providers (ISPs) if you will unsub from the list before you exit the old ISP and then resub with the new address. Yes, you are not subscribed by name, only by internet mailing address. I get from one to half-dozen subscription problems to deal with manually every day and spend quite a bit of my time for which I DON'T get paid. It wasn't much of a problem when I started this list some 15 or 16 years ago, but it has grown. I am able to "gateway" the board, since I administer both, to the surname list, thus any message posted to the board is automatically sent to the list. I had that done for quite a long time, however, recently there were a lot of postings to the board that were not appropriate for the list. Personal messages, continuation of topics without adequate subject headings, etc, so I removed the gateway. I may reimplement it again in the future. One further thing, I've been fairly lenient in the past but I will be a little more observant in the future, if you have a problem with something I do, or with another subscriber, please contact me directly - my address is freely available in a variety of places, don't send it to the list!
