Author: NancyKiser Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.phillips/8167.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I checked the 1910 Oswego Co NY census and found the following family: John H Phillips, 54, m 30 yrs, b NY, father b unknown, mother b unknown Maggie Phillips, 53, m 30 yrs, 9 children, b MI, father b Canada, mother b Canada Lula Phillips, 26, daughter, b NY George A Phillips, 24, son, b NY Henry Phillips, 20, son, b NY Harry Phillips, 18, son, b NY Jessie Phillips, 16, son, b NY Albert Phillips, 13, son, b NY Julia Phillips, 9, daughter, b NY Then I checked the 1910 census in Onondaga Co NY (where Syracuse is located) and found this family: John H Philips, 66, m 42 yrs, b NY, father b England, mother b NY Martha F Philips, 61, wife, m 42 yrs, 3 children, b NY, father b NY, mother b NY Minnie E Philips, 41, daughter, b NY Henry C Philips, 34, son, b NY Edith L Cores, 29, servant, b NY So I think the John Henry Phillips in Oswego Co NY is a totally different person than the John Henry Phillips in Syracuse, Onondaga Co, NY. The one in Syracuse appears to be the one who was born in 1844, but he told the census taker he was born in NY, not England. I can email copies of the census pages to you, if you want.
