Allen, Thanks for the info. I "googled" the subject this morning and found a book was published on the subject titled "The Family and Vicissitudes of John Phillips Senior of Duxbury and Marshfield, A Vexatious Snarl in the Genealogy of an Old Colony Progenitor" in 1903 by Azel Ames. Seems that I am not the only one who is befuddled. I came into this stuff by way of being in Group 11 of the Phillips Woldwide DNA project, where the earliest ancestor of any group member is indicated to be Michael Phillips of Providence, Rhode Island. I have not been able to link my lineage to him thus far, and thought I would check to see if he had any brothers who came across from England as well. My g-g-grandfather, Jonathan Phillips (1794-1868) according to his discharge papers from the Glengary Light Infantry Fencibles (1815) was born in or near Claverack, NY; yet according to his obituary was born in Dutchess County, NY. I am now in doubt that either of these reports are accurate. Thus far I have found no mention of his parents names. I did note that there are a lot of submissions both in the I.G.I. and the Rootsweb site for both families. Maybe some of them are still actively searching and will yet pitch in with their views. Much thanks, Bob Phillips Columbus, Ohio NEMOXT3R5@aol.com wrote: >Hello Bob, > >This will likely add to the confusion. They are undocumented data saved some >years ago.
