    3. Roger, I've finally been retired for a month and have had some time on my hands to rummage around the ol' genealogy dunps, ruminate, and reflect. You say that you were able to trace and verify your lineage back to Michael and Barbara and then ... wham! the DNA test came back putting you somewhere else in another universe. There are too few of us, actually, in group 11 to define anything for sure. Only one has claimed descent from Michael and Barbara, and her claim is based entirely on secondary sources. We are at the mercy of all of the years of accumulated amateur genealogy and their waste baskets. Ok, your DNA puts you outside of group 11. Perhaps somewhere in that lineage you collected and verified, you or your ancestor rather, was adopted. However, since you went to all the trouble of tracing that lineage, we can still make you an honorary member of Phillips group 11, perhaps. The more I dig, the muckier it gets. Hopefully you have found some cousins who have submitted samples for the DNA project. This could get interesting, yet. Bob Phillips Columbus, Ohio

    3. Hello Bob, Hope you are enjoying your retirement as much as I do. Play golf four days a week, go to fitness center and do exercises 5 days a week, plus travel, etc. Couldn't be better. When I first took my DNA test I fully expected to fall into group 11, based on the research I had obtained. And, after taking the test when I learned that my results placed me in a different Haplotype, I was somewhat disturbed. However, I have since taken the position my research results are no more or less accurate than anyone elses. Nancy Kiser did not disagree with my research as she has assigned Michael Phillips as my Earliest Known Ancestor (EKA) in my kit results in the singles group. My task now is to try to locate a living distant male relative from some of my other known relatives and try to convince them to take the DNA test so I can be more assured that my research is valid. Havn't yet been too successful in locating that relative. In the meantime I appreciate you and other members of group 11, considering me a qausi member. Good luck with your continued research.
