    3. Do you know if any of your Phillips relatives ever lived in Kentucky or Southern Indiana??? I am a Phillips and thats where my family is from and some originated from North Carolina from the Indian Reservation. I am still trying to get more info on my relatives as well but if there is any link maybe we can help each other. Melinda CALVIN PHILLIPS <phillipscalvin@prodigy.net> wrote: Hunting for my GGrandfather, Bennett S. Phillips, of Linn County, who disappeared early in the civil war. He married my GGrandmother, Elizabeth Johnson Phillips, in December of 1844. He was enumerated with his family in both the 1850 and 1860 federal census in Linn County, MO.. Since she remarried a Mr. Porch in 1864, I've always assumed something happened to him around 1861 or 1862. GGrandfather Bennett was always meticulous about the use of his middle initial "S" and sometimes went by B.S. Phillips especially on the census. According to the census, he was born in 1808 and I believe he was married in 1834 in Boone county to Frances Crouch or Craucher. He had a boy, "John" with his family in the 1850 census, about 12 years of age who I always believed was a son with Frances. He was a feisty cuss, I believed I found his name in the roster of the 11th Missouri Infantry (Confederate) which would seem about right for Grandpa Bennett. I do know, however, that there may have been some problems between him and some of the Ballews, because my Dad never liked them (went after them when he was drinking) and I never knew why! Think they were Confederate, though. I remember reading about someone named Phillips, can't remember the first name, who was shot in the back on the Grand River bridge outside Sumner, Mo and did kill the man who shot him before he died. I always believed that was my GGF. It seems like I read this when I was much younger in the old "Sumner Star". Would sure appreciate some help or suggestions. Born May 17, 1988 in Vallejo, Calif., to Steven and Angelia Phillips, he died Feb. 24, 2008 in Baghdad, Iraq. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Barbara Phillips. Pokey had always wanted to be in the military and enlisted in the delayed-entry program with the U.S. Army during his senior year of high school. Considered by friends and family to be a phenomenal artist, he even turned down college scholarships for the chance to serve his country. Pokey was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and loved the outdoors and camping. After his graduation from Ardmore High School in 2006, he left for boot camp in June of that year and was serving in the 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) in Baghdad, Iraq. His military friends said, "No matter how bad things got, Pokey always made people laugh." Survivors include his parents, Ardmore; two brothers, David Phillips and Anthony Phillips, and a sister, Barbara Phillips, all of Ardmore; paternal grandfather, Donald Phillips and his wife, Kati, Marietta; and maternal grandfather, James Goodrich, Washington, Ind. 2. Bob Phillips
    3. Good morning, We appear to have had a lot of activity lately on the list. I am wondering if anyone here connects to any of the Phillips families from New York, 1700-1810 period. In particular, I am curious about a John Phillips listed in the 1790 and 1800 census, who disappears from the 1810 census, in Columbia County. Also, listed in the 1790 census is a Peleg Phillips; I find no other reference for this name. I am also curious if anyone has anything on John Phillips 1727, West Greenwich, Kent Co., RI to 1808, Grafton, Rennsalaer Co., NY; married Dorcus Darkus about 1746. Much thanks, Bob Phillips Columbus, OH

    3. Hi JoAn, Here are the costs of the various yDNA (male) tests: 12 marker test is $99 25 marker test is $148 37 marker test is $189 67 marker test is 269 If you can possibly afford to start with the 25 marker test, that is the way to go. However, for those on a tight budget, you can start with the 12 marker test and upgrade it at a later time. It only costs a few dollars more to do it in steps. The lab keeps the DNA samples for 25 years, so you can upgrade at any time without sending in more samples.
