GOS died 1841 at age 15. (Adoption sounds likely; none of Thomas' daughters were of child-bearing age at the time.) Perhaps we can find a record in Green, Hawkins County, TN that will clarify the relationship. In our Group 9 there are Oliver names and I believe I've read of Phillips researchers seeking info on Stewart. http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/p/phillips/pats.html Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Did you have the same problems replying to or using the email address of Carl Phillips? Neither has worked for me on several attempts so--if this goes through--here is my roundabout way of contacting Carl: Good Morning, Carl. I hope that you and/or other Phillips males have had DNA analysis. If you are not aware of its value in genealogical research please check www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/p/phillips/pats.html It has helped me find proven kin--not just the wishful thinking of most postings you will find on the internet. I was thrilled to see so much info. and being that my Aunt just passed away, she was the last of Richard P. Phillips daughters except for the grand and great grand kids the Phillips name ended with my Aunt. I look forward to hearing from you. If I don't get right back to you I'm probably working. Are you a relative of the Phillips gang? You really did your research you know quite a bit. If you want you can email me too. What ever is easier for you. Thanks so much. My great great grandfather was Wiley (Riley) Stewart b 1790-1810 NC. But it seems he may have been a Phillips by birth. (from dna kit). According to our dna records it was around this time that we became Phillips. There was a marriage of Mary Thompson b abt 1790 to a Robert Stewart in Edgecombe NC on Jan 4 1809. According to our dna expects it is possible that Mary had children by a Phillips, then he died and she married a Stewart. The the children took the Stewart name. Could this be your lost Phillips? There are two more matches in our Phillips line that have traced their lineage to a John "Jack" Phillips (NC)who believe John's father is John Phillips, the old revolutionary soldier. There is information that this John Phillips had connections to the Thompson name. If you are interested I can send you directly an email with more info. Phillips, son of Lazarus and Elvina (Robinett) Phillips. I have had the dna test and the results do not match the line descending from the Reuben Phillips of Cecil Co, MD. However I am a match to another group in the Phillips Worldwide DNA Project. The members of my group have traced lineage back to NC (Randolph & Chatham Counties), KY, and VA. I am still trying to determine the father of Lazarus. The 1850 Census of Scott County VA shows Lazerith (sp?) and Elvina Philips (one l) living with their 3 oldest children George, Theodosia (sp?) and Rosannah in VA. Lazarus' brother Irvin lived in a separate household with wife Louisa (Robinett - sister of Elvina), 3 children and 2 adults with surname Ash. Also in Irvin's household was 59 year old Delila. Her birthplace is listed as VA while Irvin and Laz are both listed as NC. Does anyone know if Delila was the mother or aunt of Lazarus and Irvin? Also, what information is available for Hiram, possible father of Lazarus. Could Delila have been his wife or sister? -Jerry Phillips Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: NancyKiser Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.phillips/8104.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi, Mike, This is Nancy Kiser, the Assistant Administrator of the Phillips Worldwide DNA Project. We have over 250 participants and have identified 31 separate, unrelated Phillips families thus far, mostly American. We are very interested in recruiting more participants from Europe in an attempt to identify our deep roots in Europe. Since you are a male Phillips who can trace his roots back to Ireland, you fit into this category. The DNA test is painless and only involves swabbing the inside of your cheek to obtain cheek cells and then mailing your samples into the lab. Your kit is given a number and this is the way your samples are identified to protect your privacy. Here is a link to the Phillips Worldwide DNA Project web site at World Families where you can read more about the project and DNA testing in general: www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/p/phillips/index.html I hope you will consider joining the project. I believe DNA analysis is the best and perhaps the only way to correct the appalling accumulations of ancestral misinformation currently presented as fact on many internet web sites. Sincerely, Nancy Kiser Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
