I have decided to use this forum to periodically report on the progress of the project, since several participants have requested me to do this. The Phillips Worldwide DNA Project currently has 258 members. We are gaining approximately 10 to 12 new members per month. At this rate, we should have 350 participants by the end of 2008. As of this date (Friday March 28, 2008), twenty two kits are being processed at the lab. Eleven of those kits are for new participants, and the rest are upgrades and refinements of the DNA of existing members. Some of the new results are due back from the lab by 18 April 2008. Here are links to our websites at World Families and Family Tree DNA where you can review the DNA and pedigrees of our participants: http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/p/phillips/index.html http://www.familytreedna.com/public/PhillipsWorldwide/ Sincerely, Nancy Kiser Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Shannon Phillips started the project back in 2004 and he is the lead administrator. We maintain two websites for the project, one at Family Tree DNA and one at World Families. Here are links to both websites: https://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/p/phillips/index.html http://www.familytreedna.com/public/PhillipsWorldwide/ The website space at Family Tree DNA (FTDNA) is provided to us for free by FTDNA, which is a commercial DNA testing company. Understandably, FTDNA only allows us to post the DNA results of people who have been tested by their lab on our website at FTDNA. However, the website at World Families is not sponsored by any commercial DNA testing company, so we are free to post the DNA results of people who have been tested by other labs on that website. This is one of the reasons we decided to operate and maintain a second website at World Families in addition to our first website at Family Tree DNA. If you or a male member of your Phillips family has been tested by any DNA testing company other than Family Tree DNA (such as DNA Heritage, Ancestry.com, Oxford Ancestors, Relative Genetics, Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation, GeneTree, etc), simply send your DNA results and your Phillips pedigree to me and I will be happy to post them for free on our website at World Families. In addition, even if no male member of your Phillips family has been DNA tested, you are welcome to post your Phillips pedigree on our Phillips pedigree forum which is connected to our website at World Families. Here is a link to our pedigree forum: http://www.wfnforum.net/index.php?topic=6461.0 Although it costs money to get your DNA tested, please realize none of that money goes to the Phillips Worldwide DNA Project. All of the money goes to the lab that does the testing. Phillips Worldwide is operated on a volunteer basis and we are trying to make the project as useful and understandable as possible. If you have any suggestions about how to make our project more useful or understandable, please feel free to contact me at nancy_kiser@hotmail.com or Shannon Phillips at phillipsdnaproj@aol.com. However, this is the first time I have seen him connected to Quitman Co GA. The descendants of Reuben Phillips of Cecil Co MD comprise Phillips Family Group 2 at Phillips Worldwide. You can review their pedigrees at our website at this link: http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/p/phillips/pats.html One interesting thing you might want to especially notice is the fact that one of the members of Phillips Family Group 2 claims descent from a Reuben Clementine Phillips of Anson Co NC who was married to Sarah O'Bray.
