Clair County IL. It listed his birth as 1755 in Orange Co., NC. and all of the children as being born in NC. Early histories of St. Clair Co., state that David was a native of Orange Co., NC and arrived in IL in 1803 with all but one son who remained in NC. I do have conflicteing info as to Mary Sophia Hoffman place of birth as either PA or MD. I will have to look through my records also for census info, because I am pretty certain that his daughter Margaret Phillips Carr is listed with father's place of birth as NC.
