Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/nNABAIB/142.433.590.1 Message Board Post: Hi. My father, Donald D. Phillips, is (I believe) 58, but I could be off by a year or two. (I never can remember exactly how old he is, since he is several years older than my mother, and she's 55). I take it that you don't have any contact with your father since you are looking for half-siblings? Do you have any other information that would help determine if we're even talking about the same Donald D. Phillips? Please feel free to contact me directly via email at TLC8883@aol.com, and be sure to put "Donald Phillips" in the subject line so I don't delete it unread thinking it's spam. Thanks.

    3. Ah-ha, this computes! This is probably near or includes the area known as Alsace which was conquered by Prussia, France, Germany, etc over many years. I am pretty sure Mary Anna Clark Bergfeld's mother was Mary Sophia Masqualet b abt 1822 in Alsace France, married (1st) 1847 John Wesley Phillips of Effingham Co, IL and (2nd) 1858 Joseph Clark of Effingham Co, IL. Thank you, Herb! 3. My presumption, and I may be totally off base, relates to the Town name. Many towns in Massachusetts carried an "old" name and later on adopted a new name. Good examples would be: Hamshire County #1 became Tyringham 1761 #2 became Partridgefield 1771 #3 became Worthington 1768 #3 became Sandisfield 1762 #4 became Becket 1765 #4 became Gageborough 1771 #6 became Savoy 1797 #8 became E Hoosac 1762 Franklin County #7 became Hawley 1792 Ashfield was Huntstown 1765 Bernardston was Falltown 1762 I have presumed that "born in "OLD"" related to the old name of the current name. Again, I may be totally in error. These old/new names can be found at John Chandlers site. My library is "out of area" Ones I have seen, including various Burkes, Debretts, Whos Who, County Families of the United Kingdom by Walford (I own that one) and Burkes Landed Gentry 1848 (ditto) concentrate on primogeniture and peter out rather at the grandchildren stage, though I do have a fairly awesome LegacyFDB file largely constructed from Burkes etc. Though I am not sure how Griffith Philipps m Mary John 1692 (father of Griffith Phillips MP married Elizabeth Ward and Lucretia Folkes) connects on to it. And I seem to have a lot of unlinked families in there (see my post about Putative Descent from Sir Thomas Philipps) Its all rather a muddle I am afraid :-(
