    1. [PHILLIPS] Phillips on St. Helena
    2. Hello all, Whilst researching our John Phillips in the East India Company Muster Rolls for the island of St. Helena, I came across another John Phillips. He arrived on the island aboard the Lord Eldon in 1803 and was a carpenter. He was 29, and gave his place of birth as Bristol, Taunton, America. He had left by the end of 1805. Hope he might find a home in someone's tree! Regards Mary

Area is approximately in the Johnstown area of NY. This is my grandmother and possibly her adopted name. Gertrude was my grandmother, her mother would have been Anna. We think she was in a school for wayward girls. (possibly the Catholic school you referred to) Please reply as to any possiblities.
