I'm searching for information on my mother's birth parents and family. She was born Ruby Catherine PHILLIPS Nov. 24, 1911 in Braymer, MO, and immediately put in the Children's Home Society of Missouri for adoption. Earnest and Nella Richardson of St. Louis adopted her in 1913, and she grew up as Nella Jane Richardson. Repeated attempts through the proper channels in Missouri and the Children's Home Society to try to acquire a birth certificate have been consistently unsuccessful. Still alive at 91, my mother is a widow in retirement in Lancaster, CA. We'd love to find family somewhere! Thanks to anyone who can help. Richard Tennesen, Capitola, CA

They may have originated in Frederick Co. or Loudoun Co. VA. In 1830, Barnet, Nelson, Daniel and George Phillips are in Goshen Twp. Belmont Co. Ohio. All were born in Virginia. All were born 1790-1800 per this census except Daniel, who was born 1780-1790. Per later census information, Barnet was born abt 1799, Nelson abt 1796, George abt 1793. In 1840, a William Phillips joins them in Goshen Twp. Are these Phillips brothers or otherwise related? Any information about them would be very much appreciated. Ron Bloch

Surnames: Phillips Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/nNABAIB/5502.1 Message Board Post: Not sure if this is of any help - I haven't done any proper research. My mother was born Eileen Mary Phillips at Goldborough Farm (west of Pembroke Dock) on 10 March 1929. I have found www.streetmap.co.uk to provide excellent maps, showing al the farms in some detail. Her father was Thomas Bentley Phillips. The farm belonged to her family on my grandmother's side (Marjorie Roberts), and, at that time, my great grandfather (Jabez Roberts) ran the farm, with Thomas' help. My great aunt (Elizabeth Jane Roberts) also lived there. I know that my grandfather came from the Haverfordwest area - his sister (Gwennie) married a man called Jones and lived at St Kennox farm, just outside Haverfordwest at Llawhaden. Her children included a son (Kenneth), who inherited the farm, and two daughters (Margaret and Mary), who married farmers. I also know that many of the Phillipses and Robertses emigrated to Australia at the turn of the last century. I know very little about the Phillipses - many of the family are no longer with us. My mother had two brothers (Thomas and George) and a sister (Gwen), all still living. I know that my grandparents moved to Bristol in the late 30s, to look after my great-great-grandmother (on my grandmother's side) who was ill, and who had moved there in 1905 to live with her daughter by her second marriage. Shortly after, my great-grandfather (Jabez) died, and Goldborough was sold - the family could not move back once war was declared, and my grandmother was pregnant - moving was difficult then - I know they used a pony and trap, and there was no way across the Severn, so the journey meant going north through Gloucestershire, and then south into Wales (as it did when I was a child). My mother's sister and one brother still live in Bristol, as do their children (my cousins). George is in Canada, and his children are in ther USA and Canada. My parents died some years ago, and my sister is in Plymouth, and I live in Yorkshire. Not sure if this is of any help, as I said. But the name Thomas Bentley Phillips may provide a connection - if so, I cna let you have more info (dates of birth, etc).
