Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/nNABAIB/5589 Message Board Post: I am a descendant of William and Mary Presdee Phillips who lived in various villages of Gloucestershire and Worcestershire England. William and Mary were born in the 1760s and 1770s. They had a large family. William died in 1825 in Suckley, Worcestershire. Mary and two of her children and their families (and Mary's grandson, James Burrup, aged 10) immigrated to the U.S. in 1841. I would like to correspond with any of the Phillips family that remained behind in England.
I am trying to locate the marriage record for Alfred Phillips b abt 1824 in SC and Elizabeth F McCarter b abt 1828 in AL. Their marriage date was 1/31/1848 in Marshall County, AL. I have a subscription to Ancestry but have not found it there. Thanks in advance for any help. Kathy Shulkcum

When I posted a message regarding this on the 11th, another researcher discovered a cemetery record on H. T. Phillips who was born Feb 6, 1849 and died Oct 21, 1879. He is buried in the Clear Creek Cemetery near Brownwood, Brown County, TX. Mary's youngest child was born in 1877, H. T. Phillips died in 1879 and Mary is listed as a widow on the 1880 census, so the dates coincide. If anyone has any information regarding Mr. Phillip's full name or anything that would connect him with Mary and her children I would certainly appreciate it. Thanks.

My great grandmother was born in Hoggville, Ga. in 1860. Her name was Antoinette (Phillips) and she married my great grandfather in 1889. My great grandfather was born in 1863 in Atlanta, Ga. his name was Russell Reynolds. Antoinette and Russell had five children Mathew, Clarence,Carine, Beatrice and Elie Reynolds. This is a Black family my Mother told me were they lived was called Reynolds town. Their address was 952 Renfroe Street. My Grandmother moved to Calif. in 1944 with two of her children my Mother and one of her Brother's my name was Mattie her nick name was (Polly) her brother name was Ruben Reynolds. Two of my grandmother children had moved to Calif about two year earlier their name were Nettie Mae Duncan and her brother was Willie Reynolds. My Grand Aunt Bea and her husband Eugene Jackson all lived in Atlanta, Ga. at the same address. If anyone knows this fa! mily please reply.
I went through the 1870 census images of Brown Co., TX that are on line. The only Phillips listed was as follows: Page 123A, #90/92 San Saba Post Office William Phillips, 25, b. MO Driving Cattle wife: Frances, b. AR, ag 18 Perhaps the family you seek was living in a neighboring county in 1870 when Sarah the oldest daughter shown would have been 2 years old. Charles may have shown as a new born depending on his birth date. This census was taken latter part of July. Your Mary would have been born abt. 1841. Maybe her husband was several years older and was a Civil War Vet. You may want to check the veterans listed for Brown Co., TX. Since the youngest child shown in 1880 is 3 years old, her husband probably died between 1886 and 1880. You may be able to find something in the cemetery listings if they were living in Brown Co., TX at the time of his death. Hope this helps some.
