He was my GG grandfathers (Elijah Madison Phillips). I don't know if this is the same one but he was born in 1841, married in 1865, died in 1927. I don't think he was born in Alabama but I do know His children were born there. I belive he was born in georgia. He had 11 brothers and 1 sister. He would have been only 1 of 5 who servived the civil war.I also have a listing of his children. I don't see the name you listed as one of his children. But I just may not have that name.

At the Phillips mill plantation, oct. 3, 1792. His wife was Elizabeth white, and or Elizabeth Harrington. Joel phillips jr. was born abt 1748 in Anson co. North carolina. He married a Charity brantley abt 1770. Died before 1812 in wilkes co. ga. Joel phillips sr. is my G-5 grandfather. I also have info on his father if you like.

I am related to many Phillips in KY. My great grandmother was a Phillips. If I listed all their names here, it would take too long. If you go to the Marshall Co, KY page from rootsweb.com and look through the cemeteries, you'll see a few cemeteries that are full of Phillips. That's my family. I'm related to most of the Phillips in Marshall Co, KY and a few in the surrounding counties. I am in the process of typing it all up though so I'm not too organized these days. Her father served in the Civil War and was killed . I do not know the names of her parents, but I recently learned that Josey, as she was sometimes called, married Hiram Hutchinson on March 30, 1877 and lived in Clinton County, KY. They had four children, Palestine (Tine), Isabel (Belle), Mary, and Sadie. Hiram and Josephine divorced in early 1890's and she married Archibald Gibson, and had three children, William Hunter, Willard, and Ora IVOR. Hi listers of Beam, Phillips and Nelson Co. Lists- It's been over a year since I requested anyone look at this photo. It's been at my site for a long time now, and I am hoping that someone will recognize ANYone in it.... Even a guess would be most welcomed. To me it looks like a mix of Phillip's and Beam family. Even the dress ... if someone would care to venture a guess as to what church group (probably baptist) or in what era it is taken. My family agrees that the girls look somewhat like the Phillips' girls, which would include family names related and possibly related: Cox, Tharpe, Hall, Carter, Logsdon, Noe, Hardin, Sweeney, Wilkerson, Beam, Burns, Rutter, Doom, Waters, McLain, Greenwell, Catlett, and many more. This photo was in possession of my cousin Raymond Stallings McLain (the third, but the first two deceased). We know it came from the KY area, and likely from Washington, Nelson or Marion County. Each time I've found a new lead, it leads me to my Shedrick relatives and I'm happy to have any information on them, too. I'm happy to have any new information on any line of my family, I know we all feel that way, but I'm really anxious to start researching my Phillips lineage which I know nothing about. I found a photo of my Great-grandmother, Grace Phillips, as a young girl in about 1895. My Great-grandmother is with 3 other girls, one of which might have been her sister, Bessie. As it's a formal photograph, it's very possible that the other girls may be cousins, but I don't yet know of her cousins. On the back of the photograph is written "to Aunty Gertie Bromley" from Grace. Charles and Armitta Shedrick Phillips lived in Rouses Point, NY owning and/or operating a small hotel and their 2 sons (John and George) and their 2 daughters (Grace and Bessie) were all born there. Armitta Shedrick Phillips was born in 1865 in Clarenceville, Quebec. I only know that Charles Phillips was born in Canada in 1850. I'm hoping Gertie is a Phillips, but she may be another Shedrick, Wheeler, Salls or Wait relative. Also, as per the 1880 U.S. Census for Champlain, New York, my 2Great-grandfather Charles was living with his aunt Mary Mandigo. Charles' wife, Armitta Shedrick Phillips was also related to Mandigo's through either her Shedrick or Salls side. I appreciate and am thankful for any help. Joanne

Barnes. Cynthia Phillips was my Great Aunt, my Grandmother’s sister. I know that Cynthia’s death certificate has very little information on it. It does not even have death date. But it does say she was buried on June 30, 1923 and that she is buried in Bethesda Church Cemetery even though I have not been able to find her grave. She was 20 years old when she died. Silas and Cynthia had two children. Nora Ethel Barnes was born on June 5, 1919. And Elberth Barnes was born May 23, 1921. Elberth died on Oct. 23 1975. Ethel married an unknown George. She lived in South Carolina in 1975. She may still be alive. I have never met any of the Barnes’ and would really like to met some of them or at least get a picture. Elberth lived in Fayetteville when he died. He was married with two children. Silas married again after Cynthia died and (that I am aware of) had two children. One died a f! ew months after birth and a girl married an unknown Jones. Silas F. Barnes’ parents were William H and Elvira Lamb Barnes. Silas’ gg-grandparents were William and Celia Dawson Walters. Cynthia’s parents were James Foster and Perline Gray Phillips. Cynthia’s gg-grandparents were Lewis and Barbara Britt West. They lived in North Carolina. All and any help will be welcomed.
