    1. [PHILLIPS] Phillips born in Ark or OK or I.T. Indian Territory
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: PHILLIPS, AUBERRY, BRYAN Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/nNABAIB/7563 Message Board Post: I am trying to track down the source of the information that Loree Martin posted. If you are Loree, or if you know of a Tucker Munro Phillips around 1889 plus or minus m. Lottie "Maude" Auberry (her mother was Lora Bryan of Mo, Pa and elsewhere) of Phillipsburg, La Clede, MO m. 3, m. Reynolds? OK? IT?m. 2?, m. Mary Susan Rambo of Dallas C., Mo, m. 1?, please let me know. This third wife, my great-grandmother, and he had Nadine, Albert, Daryl, Ruby, Mary Catherine, and Lora Opal, my grandmother, who married a Bone. Tuck considered himself half Cherokee. He certainly had the appearance of a Native American, for I met him as a young girl. There is talk of the Trail of Tears amongst the ancestors, whether or not from books, TV or Tuck, I don't know. He said that one of his wives and their babies were burnt alive by vigilantes, but no one has the same story as to who they were...post-Civil War vigilantes or, as I suspect, MO. "Regulators" or KKK, but no proof. But both these groups, were organized or re-organizing about that time. It is likely that his mother may have been Louisa Phillips and a "widow." Apparently, Tuck's father died, for they were together a long time, if his mother, indeed was Louisa, and had a number of children. I have a list of them in my files. . One census record says that Tuck's father was from TN, which fits in with the Trail of Tears theory. Louisa is found living in ARK, Osage, in another census, which also fits into the Trail of Tears theory. Her maiden name is unknown. She is found raising a half dozen children by herself with her eldest son nineteen. Tuck was the youngest listed. I believe this is probably his family but have no proof yet. My research in census records lists him as one year old in Ark, and born in Ark., Osage. The research Loree provided indicates that he was born in I.T. I am not sure if Ark. was considered part of I.T. at that time. Also. I found him living in OK with his brother-in-law, a Mr. Reynolds and listed as a widower. This may have been from his first or second marriage. This census fits his story and clears up somewhat the disparity between my grandmother's claiming he came from Ark. and my mother's saying he came from an Indian Reservation in OK, but I still don't know in which state or if I.T. he was born in. Also, Loree's record has Lora Auberry listed as a child of Maude (probably our Lottie Maude)and Tuck Phillips. Since Lottie Maude's last name was Auberry, this is surely she. However, to the best of my knowledge my grandmother was not born on an Indian Reservation. For one thing, at that time, the Cherokees were not amenable to having "outsiders" or people who weren't full-bloods on the reservations unless they could prove "blood relationship," which I suppose may have been possible although another legend in the family has it that Tuck left the reservation because he and perhaps his mother weren't allowed to stay. This would have been because so many whites were trying to get Indian money and rights by claiming kinship etc. I don't know Louisa's maiden name to research her background, but since she was the one who was widowed from Tuck's father's death, I suppose she might not have been allowed to stay, I don't know. Lottie Maude Auberry Phillips's father was Thomas N. Auberry. I have a list of the children. Thomas Auberry married Lora Bryan and I am still researching her background too.Lottie Maude had a brother name "Gene" Eugene, and sisters named Viola and Anna, maybe others. Anyway, If anyone knows of this family, I would be most grateful for any information about them. England, with two 'servants' in house. Alfred, Oscar, and Charles are in the 1860 census Lapeer County. Alfred W Phillips apparently newly married to Elmira and resides Burlington tp, Lapeer County. By 1870 Alfred is married to Orpha and has 8 year old son Orrin (actually Lewis Orrin). Widowed Orpha is in the 1900 census in Pontiac and states she had no children, thus indicating she was likely a second wife of Alfred. Lewis O Phillips lived with a Beardslee family in 1880 in Independence tp, Oakland Co, MI. He married Minnie Smith and had two children, Alfred and Mattie M. Wife Minnie died 1894 in Indianfields tp, Tuscola County, Michigan at the home of her sister Emma and Charles Smith. The children went to Lapeer to live with relatives. Alfred stated in his marriage that he was born in Holt, NE. The 1900 census also says he was b. Mar 1885 in Nebraska. In 1900 Alfred is living with a cousin, Eddie Weston, in Mayfield tp, Lapeer County. It appears that Lewis O and Minnie Smith Phillips briefly moved to Holt, Nebraska, and returned to Michigan where Mattie was born. In 1910 Lewis O Phillips has remarried to widowed Phoebe Boardman and 18 year old daughter Mattie M is living with them in Kalamazoo city. Mattie M Phillips m. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/nNABAIB/7553 Message Board Post: I am resurching the history of my father Stanley George Goodey's family. So far I have obtained a birth certificate for him and discovered that he was born on 14th December 1916. According to the birth certificate his parents were Geroge Goodey and Ada Phillips and he was born at 22 Harwood Road in Fulham, London, England. This is contrary to his marriage certificate, which stated he was 35 at the time of his marriage to my mother Elizabeth Edith May Garrett on 9th December 1950, would have made him 33 and not 35 given his date of birth. Despite the discrepency in thae age on the marriage certificate I am pretty sure that I have the correct Birth Certificate as his Marriage certificate indicates thaty his father was George Goodey and the address my father gave as his at the time of his marriage was 53A Fulham High Street, London, England. At the time of my father's marriage his father George Goodey's occupation is given as Shop Manager, at the time of his birth in 1916 his fathers occupation is given as Motor Driver. I have also obtained a Marriage certificate for whom I believe are my fathers parents and discovered that George Goodey and Ada Phillips were married on 22nd March 1914 at St. Andrew's Church in Islington. He was a Motor Bus Driver at the time and that they gave the same address at the time of the marriage which was 31 Huntingdon Street in Islington and the same age 22. This marriage certificate also indicates that George's father John Goodey was deceased and that Ada's father was Henry Phillips a Kitchen Porter. The witness to the marriage are recorded as Henry Phillips (presumably Ada's father) and Louisa Goodey (presumably George's mother). I have searched the Free BMD and Family relatives.org websites and can only find one John Goodey, married to a Louisa James in 1877. Searching these 2 sites for the birth of George Goodey in and around 1892 I found 3 births recorded but for Ada Phillips many recorded births in and around 1892. I don't know when George Goodey or his wife Ada died, but I do know that George Goodey was alive in 1950 when my father was married and presumably in 1951 when I was born. I believe my father was the first child born to George Goodey and Ada Phillips. Any help to assist me go further back in my resurches would be greatefully appreaciated. Many thanks Richard.
