I am reading and have subscribed to this list, because I think I might have a cousin on my mothers side who married a Phelan. I have such little information about my mothers family so I am kinda looking for a needle in a hay stack. When my mother passed away in her letters her brother wrote is a notation of a Catherine Phelan having passed away in New York City. I do not know the time frame. I believe her maiden name was Pretzer. There were only daughters in her family. 4 sisters I think. I know so little of my mothers family that I cannot offer much info. I am searching for them and maybe some descendants. Catherine Pretzer Phelan may have had sisters named Tillie, Olga, Her mother would have been named Hanna or Johanna, Mothers maiden name Johnk. Her father might have been Otto or August Pretzer. At one item they would have lived in Newport R. I. Maybe born there am not sure. My grandfather was Karl Johnk.
