This sounds very interesting! Can you tell me more about this person - James or John from Co Queens? My family came from there and my great-great grandfather James Phelan may have been the person in question or his brother. He was one of two brothers who came over in the early 1800s. We have a clear picture of his descendents, but not of the brother. My family has been trying to find a link with the James D. Phelan, who was the famous mayor of San Francisco in the early 1900s, and who definitely came from Co. Queens. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kenneth Womack" <ken-womack@worldnet.att.net> To: <PHELAN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 06, 2001 8:11 PM Subject: [Phelan] James Phelan > Sorry but just read my message and realized I made a mistake. The Phelan that came to US from Queens Co., Ireland was named JOHN Phelan not James. James was his son, the senator.
