My grandfather's brother went to Australia in the 1870's. His name was William Phelan(Whelan) - we're not sure which name he used - my grandfather used Whelan, but another brother, Thomas, used Phelan - Thomas went to Australia (Melbourne) for about 5 years and then returned to Ireland. He met up with his brother while there, but no one ever heard of William again - his parents were Honora Keating and James Whelan. Keatings also went to Australia. Mary
