She was born in Ireland on March 20, 1823 and came to America in early youth. She resided for some time in Boston and then came to Chicago where she married Mr. Walsh. Funeral occured from St. Agath's Church. Appropriate hymns were sung by Misses Mary Braddock and F. Christiansen and Messrs. John J. Phelan, A. E. Darso, David Shea and John Ford. The remains were escorted to Calvary cemetery by an immense cortege and the casket was borne by Capt. Patrick O'Connor, Dennis O'Leary Sr., Dennis O'Leary Jr., Thomas Kelleher, Hugh Kearns, and F. C. Kearns. -Oct. 3, 1896 (2) (21) Hartigan, Thomas J., cousin of Col. Thomas L. Hartigan, and son-in-law of Patrick Phelan, died at the family residence, 4300 Wentworth, Monday from acute bronchitis. He suffered from lung trouble for two years. Prior to his illness, he was assistant cashier in the city water dept. under John Lyons. He had also been a member of the law firm of Hartigan, Hartigan, and Hartigan in the Real Estate Board Bldg. He was born in Ireland, aged 38 yrs., and came to America at the age of 16. He married Patrick Phelan's eldest daughter ten years ago. His widow and two children survive him. Funeral occured from St. Cecelia's Church to Calvary. -July 15, 1899 (2) Kelly, Richard, died at the residence of his brother, Mr. Simon Kelly, No. 3755 Emerald avenue, on July 10, 1886, after five day's illness. There were around him when he died his brothers, Simon, Thaddeus, Andrew, and Martin Joseph, and his sisters, Mesdames, Kate A. Phelan and Mary Maher. The funeral occured from the house to the Church of the Nativity on July 12, thence to Mt. Olivet cemetery. There was a fine floral tribute placed upon the coffin by Mr. Kelly's fellow employees at Armour's establishment. He was born in Rathdowney, Queen's Co., and was a nephew of Capt. R. C. Kelly and was only 28 yrs. old when death calle dhim from this world. -July 17, 1886 (2) Maher, Mary, wife of Martin, No. 450 Bowen st., died at her residence on Jan. 29 of acute peritonitis in her 36th year. She was the only sister of Mrs. Michael Phelan, 31st and State sts., and a niece of Capt. R.C. Kelly. She was born in Rathdowney, Queens Co. and came to the U.S. in 1875. Funeral occured from Holy Angels Church to Mt. Olivet -Feb. 7, 1891 (2) McHugh, John, Nov. 15, 1896, husband of Annie, nee McGowan, brother-in-law of Mrs. W. Hyland, cousin of Jane McHugh, Mrs. Kate Phelan, and Mrs. D. Rogers, native of Castlebar, Co. Mayo. Funeral from resid., 27 Otis st. to Immaculate Conception Church to Calvary (1) O'Brien, Patrick S., son of the late William and Alice O'Brien, at his resid., 4562 Wabash ave., aged 35 yrs. He had been connected with the police dept. for many years. He was a native of Scart, Modeligo, Co. Waterford. Mrs. Thomas Phelan, Mrs. Devine, Mrs. Conway, and Miss O'Brien were sisters of the deceased. Funeral occured from St. Elizabeth's Church. -Nov. 25, 1905 (2) Phelan, Ellen, wife of John, at resid., 3034 Lowe, April 7, 1888, native of Co. Waterford. Funeral from All Saints Church to Calvary (1) Phelan, Philip, Oct. 1, 1880, a native of Dungooley, Co. Kilkenny. (1) Phelan, Terrence, died on Aug. 22, 1888 at his residence, No. 101 East Kinzie street, of consumption. he was only 46 years of age and he leaves four orphan children, his wife having died about 18 months ago. He was a member of Division 11, A.O.H. He was born at Derrycarn, Queen's Co., and was engaged in the liguor business for many years. The funeral occured from the Cathedral of the Holy Name on the 24th ult. to Calvary cemetery. -Sept. 1, 1888 (2) Phelan, William, born in Parish Finnoe, near Borrisocane, Co.
