    1. [PHELAN] Re: PHELAN-D Digest V00 #50
    2. Hi All, I can certainly understand the frustration going on with the constant e-mails on Phelans. Some join lists just looking to make connection with a cousin, others for info. Two things: I'm putting this info up with the hopes that it does help someone. I actually got a Phelan lead here on the list that helped me out greatly, I believe it was Glenda who posted it. However, it may help you if your subscribed in list mode to unsubscribe and resubscribe in digest mode. just insert "-request" after the -L in the address. leave the subject line blank and put "unsubscribe" only here in the body. To resubscribe to digest mode e-mail "Phelan-D-request" and do the same but put subscribe instead of unsubscribe in the body. These rules apply to most all the rootsweb mail lists and this may help some. Secondly, I'm pretty sure there is a Whelan mailing list for those who might not know. I do these lookups during a period in the morning where my computer is locked up computing and I really can't use it for anything else intensive. So for 4 lists, Phelan,Donovan,Kinsella, Sheridan I run these names on the databases that are free for 10 days at ancestry.com. Sometimes I hit paydirt and other times there are none. I started running Phelans but have now found Phalens as well in the family (cousins). Mine are all from Nova Scotia. I don't run any other variations because a)time and b)I don't have Whelans. The good news is that like I said these databases are free for 10 days once posted so all of you have the ability to visit ancestry.com and on the right side you'll see links to recent databases. For 5.95 a month, if you've never seen it before, it's a pretty good deal. I've never joined since I've pretty much have gone thru their entire collection (large) and am at alot of brickwalls. I've posted below the addresses of Rootsweb.com's mailing list pages. The Surname list page also has the regional mailing lists as well. For the archive page, you need to know the list name you are searching to take advantage of it. This might be helpful for those who were not aware of the whelan list or just joined the phelan list. In fact just so I wouldn't look like an idiot I just looked for the Whelan list. Here it is: WHELAN-L-request@rootsweb.com I wish all good luck and I'm only posting this so that it may help one of us somewhere. And it's in the archives for any future users. If you're enjoying the postings I appreciate it and no need to let me know via posting to the list. With so little time in the day the last thing most of want to read on the list here is "Thank you Chris" letters. We all get enough e-mail as it is. So enough said, I've got to run to the store to get more paint for the patio furniture. Best of Luck to y'all and I'll post Friday's searches Monday. (Took the boy to his new daycare center as the previous one has rapidly gone down hill and for note's sake I'm a Christopher-mom got me into the tree) 'Nuff said.
