    3. Hi John, My grandfather and his father, my great grandfather were both named Pierce Phelan. I don't know anything about great grandfather Pierce except that he was godfather to my dad, Herbert Phelan Sr. who was born in Peekskill New York. The older Pierce I think lived in New York City since he married a Brooklyn woman named Julia Lang. I don't know his place of origin but I think he would have been born around the early to mid 1860's. The younger Pierce was an iron moulder who died young of lung problems and left a widow and 3 small children, one of whom was my dad. I think he was born and raised in New York City since his wife was from there. He would have been born on or a couple of years before 1890. I'd sure like to explore this a bit further.
