My great great grandfather, Pierce Phelan, and his wife, Mary Dwyer (or O'Dwyer) came to Canada in 1852 from Co. Tipperary, Ireland. My branch of the family remained in the St. Catharines, ON area but some of Pierce's descendants moved on to New York, Illinois, and Ohio. Later, descendants of Pierce have scattered all over the US.
