(3 Oct.) #4 Source: MAESSEX-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [MAESSEX] Missing marriage record I have been researching the LALLY family, Anthony H. and Mary Ellen Phalen McDonald Lally of Gloucester for several years now. All attempts to locate a marriage record for them failed. I inquired at MA Archives, the state of MA and also the City of Gloucester. I recently received a copy of Anthony's Civil War pension records. Enclosed, much to my delight, was a copy of an affadavit signed by the pastor of St Ann's Church, and the Gloucester City Police Clerk. This affadavit provided the marriage date of 22 Nov. 1874. With this info I again contacted the MA state Archives....still no record. Did this record simply fall through the cracks? I am preparing a letter to be sent to St Ann's requesting a copy. However I vaguely remember that they lost records for the cemetries in a fire. We were unable to locate information on the cemeteries for a burial at Cavalry in 1958. Does anyone know if the fire destroyed other records as well.....will I be disappointed again? Gena Gates Lally Researching in Gloucester, LALLY, HOGAN, AMARAL
