Jann, Thanks for the reply. I found my Edward John Whalen owning a home in New Bedford, Mass in 1900 on the census that year. He likely lived in and around that area in any of the small towns. Because the boundries of the towns changed from year to year he may show up in Fall River, Mass and Fall River, Rhode Island, Providence, RI, etc. The 1900 census only lists his children still living in his household plus an adult daughter who married a Sullivan and moved in with their three children.
