    1. [PHELAN-L] Getting bored yet?
    2. Will take a break after this one. Don't want to overwhelm anyone! ......con'ting on.......... More on immigration. Ran across this site tonight. It's called Irish Immigrants, and it's a searchable by initial of last name list of names, ships, dates of people of mostly Irish and Scots Irish background...many from the height of the Irish immigration, but some I saw were fairly early, too. A good place to start looking. http://genealogy.org/~ajmorris/ireland/ireemg1.htm Here's a good place to look for people willing to do lookups, or a place for you to register if you are willing to do lookups. It's called Books Plus. Check it out. http://www.mindspring.com/~wcrews/BooksPlus.html This site is a book review with excerpts from a work called Living on the Unicoi Road...I am passing it out because the site includes a map of frontier GA for the area the book covers and also has an index of the names the work mentions. If you have family that passed through northern GA, you may want to check this site out. http://www.mindspring.com/~littlestar/ If you haven’t checked out the maps page at the TNGenWeb page, you really ought to do so, if you have any interest in people who went through TN, KY or points nearby. They have a number of early maps, maps of Indian cessations, and other useful features. A few of these maps have early roads indicated. http://www.tngenweb.org/maps/index.html This is a nice page that discusses the Great Wagon Road and the page owner's family's migration from the east coast into KY and TN and places beyond. http://www.hsv.tis.net/~bobf/migrations.html Looking for sites related to TN Genealogy and history? Check out the home page for the Tennessee Genealogy and History Webring. Right now there are 80 linked sites. http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=tngenehist;index Here's a good quick intro into early roads into TN Tennessee Roads before 1800 http://funnelweb.utcc.utk.edu/~kizzer/genehist/maps/1800road.htm This is a nice page about the history of early settlement in KY for the Spaulding family, and even contains a small map of the main routes for the early areas. Check it out if you have KY connections. http://w3.one.net/~ddoster/aaron.htm Looking for some historical backgroud to figure out why people may have been doing what they were doing? The following site has some good historical links for the 1820s-1840s. It has a really nice time line of activity during this period. Do check it out. Tales of the Early Republic http://www.panix.com/~hal/ Here's a nice black and white map of the Great Wagon Road ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/sc/maps/sc_trail.gif A map of the Wilderness Road ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/sc/maps/cumberla.gif John Robertson's Map links page This is an excellent collection of map links for historical maps of the country as a whole and for the various states too. http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/2297/maps.htm ..............end............... That's all for now. Will be sending more as I come across them. Good luck everyone, Chris
