    3. Hi, Phelan cousins! This is GREAT. It's so encouraging to be on something like this right from the start! I am looking for one of my great-great-grandfathers. His name was Martin Phelan. I have no idea where in Ireland he was born. He married in Stamford, Ct. in 1854 and died July 21, 1893. His death certificate lists his parents as "Michael" and "Mary" but no further information is given. Now here's where it gets interesting. I'm pretty sure, based on some research I did on a quasi-family legend, that Martin had a brother named James, who married a woman named Mary Holland. They had a daughter named Mary Phelan, who was born March 25, 1865 in Queens County, Ireland. She also came to the U.S. and married a James Broderick in Stamford, Ct. in 1891. This information naturally led me to think that perhaps Martin Phelan was also from Queens County, but I had a basic search done in Queens and none of these names turned up. Can anybody help? Special note to J.R. Lally: I'm also searching for Lally! Specifically, a Bridget Lally born in Ireland whose father was Thomas Lally, and that's all I know. Bridget emigrated to the U.S. and married Thomas Glynn in Stamford, Ct. in 1866. Any bells going off? Thanks, Glenda, for bringing us together! Lois Jamieson
