The paper is dated 1/4/2000 and reads as follows: DOREEN A. PHELAN, 73, BUYER FOR TEPPER'S Doreen A. Phelan 73, of Clearwater, Fla., formerly of North Plainfield (NJ), died Sunday (Jan. 2, 2000) at Southern Ocean County Hospital in Manahawkin (NJ). Born in South Plainfield (NJ) she lived in North Plainfield and moved to Florida 15 years ago. She was a garment buyer for Tepper Brothers in Plainfield for 11 years. She was a member of Women of the Elks in Clearwater and the PTA of North Plainfield. She is survived by her husband, Thomas; a daughter, Kimberly Astalos of Little Egg Harbor (NJ); a brother, William Askew of Bricktown (NJ); a sister, Margaret VanGordon of Brick; and two grandchildren, Amber and Michael Thomas. She was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Hope. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Maxwell Funeral Home, 160 Mathistown Road, Little Egg Harbor, where friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, Md. 20852-9813.
