The Emporia, owned by Joseph Procter, sank. Martin Whalen, Corporal, K Company, Fifth Regiment, Infantry. Enlisted Friday, March 10, 1865; deserted Aug 17, 1865 Pierce Phelan has a Martin Phelan in his line. He has his family listed at length on rootsweb or ancestry.com.
