Hi -My Phelans(Whelans) were similar but prob. not the same -- John Phelan(Whelan) wed Mary Power 1862 in Carrickbeg, Co Waterford at the Church of St. Molleran's (Beg is part of the Tipp town of Carrick On Suir) Their witnesses were William Power and Catherine Whelan.
