    1. [Phelan] A Funny
    2. Kenneth Womack
    3. This came thru to me because it had the name Phelan in it. I thought I'd share it with you.. If you want to hear all the other Irish ones, let me know and I'll send them to you individually. Everyone might not think they're funny !!!!! Glenda Michael Hoolihan was courting Frances Phelan. The young couple sat in the parlor of the girl's house night after night, much to the annoyance of old man Phelan. One night he couldn"t take any more. Standing at the top of the stairs, he yelled down, "What's that young fella doin' here all hours of the night?" "Why, Dad, " said Frances, "Michael was just telling me everything that's in his heart!" "Well, next time, " roared Phelan, "just let him tell you what's in his head, and it won't take half as long!"

    1. [Phelan] Rootsweb Surname Notification Info
    2. Kenneth Womack
    3. Carol, I believe anyone can get this same service for several surnames that you might want by donating $25 to Rootsweb. See the website at http://pml.rootsweb.com/ if you're interested. Since Ancestry.Com bought out Rootsweb, I'm not sure if this has changed or not but you might check it out if you're interested. If you find out the scope, please let the list know in case someone else is interested. I've been a listmanager for a long time for several lists, back when you had to pay to set up your own surname list. So those sums just carried over till now and I didn't have to make another donation for this service. I don't think you have to pay to manager a list now. Hey, is anybody having any luck with their Phelans lately???? I made a lucky break a short time back. You'd think I'd be content but you guys will hear me shouting no matter where you are if I can ever connect to the Thomas Phelan clan. I know they're mine, I just can't prove it. Anyone else got a sad story to tell, maybe we could commiserate. LOL. Glenda > Ken, Just a quick thank you for forwarding the info you find on other > lists...I save everything! Carol Phelan

    1. [Phelan] Randolph, MO Newspaper Article
    2. Kenneth Womack
    3. The following was taken from the Randolph Co, MO Mailing List: Higbee News, Friday, 5 June 1914 Friday, 5 June 1914--PHELAN-MAGRUDER--Fred W. Phelan, of this city, and Miss Ethel Magruder, of Higbee, were married Saturday morning at the bride's home by the Rev. N. Magruder, father of the bride. Only the immediate families of the happy couple were present at the wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Phelan after the ceremony left for a month's trip through the West. They will spend a month in a cottage at Green Mountain Falls, Colorado. On their return they will go to housekeeping in this city. The bride is well and favorably known in Moberly. For several years she was employed as a stenographer in the Wabash trainmaster's office and it was while thus employed that she met the young gentleman who has become her husband. She is a pretty and refined young lady, sensible, and of a sunny disposition, and Mr. Phelan was fortunate, indeed, in winning her hand in marriage. Mr. Phelan is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Phelan, Sr, of South Williams street. he was reared in this city, and numbers his friends by his acquaintances. He is employed as yard foreman by the Wabash in this city, and is held high in the esteem of his employers and fellow employees. He and his bride have the best wishes of The Monitor and a host of friends for a long and happy married life--Moberly Monitor.
