Hello to All, My ancestry descends from three brothers, Johannes, Friederich, and Paulus Schorb who embarked at Rotterdam and arrived in Philadelphia in September of 1749. Paulus was listed on the manifest with his correct last name, but Johannes and Friederich were listed under the name Shurp. Paulus and Friederich signed the manifest, but Johannes just made his mark, apparently unable to write. I had previously been told they were from Koblenz, but research in Koblenz failed to disclose any record of them. Is there any source of information which would be able to assist in finding the location from which they came? Do emigration visa records exist that far back?
