My elusive ancestor is Matthias MORICK who shows up in Fürfeld in about 1705 with his wife Maria Elisabeth ____. Since the 1st of his many children was born in abt 1704 Matthias was probably born about 1680. But where? I haven't found any information on where this family originated, but through the succeeding generations they slowly moved south and then into Alsace. The name changed to MORCK along the way. The godfather of one of the children of Matthias was Wernher Morick, so he could be a brother of Matthais, and since he was a godfather, I am thinking that he probably didn't live too far away. The oldest son of Matthias, Johannes Morck became a vicillus (property manager) of a farm at nearby Bidendeller Hof (Biedenthal). If any one runs into a MORICK or MORCK record, please let me know.
