    3. Johnna, Most of our ancestors were not land owners, since the property was owned by the king, duke, or some other ruler. The best you can usually do is find entries in the church records for baptisms, marriages, and deaths. In the regions where Napolean went through, which includes this region of Saarland, there are also civil records. You can get to those records at your local LDS Family HIstory Center. The LDS Family History Library online card catalog (http://www.familysearch.org/Search/searchcatalog.asp) shows both church and civil records for Blieson. The Bliesen you want would be the one listed for Rheinland Prussia. (To read the history of the area go to the German Genealogy website - http://www.genealogienetz.de/gene/reg/SAA/saarland-d.html or http://www.rootsweb.com/~deusaa/.) Find your local LDS FHC at the listing at the same site and order the microfilms from Salt Lake City. >Date: Fri, 22 Sep 2000 12:19:00 -0500 >From: "Gregory St. Clair" <gregjohnna@worldnet.att.net> >To: PFALZ-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [PFALZ] Bliesen > >Hello Listers: > >I would like to write to the village official at Bliesen, Saarland.
