Hello, HUFFMANN is certainly a misspelling of HOFFMANN, itsself deriving from HOFMANN. HOF means courtyard or farm or (noble) court and MANN is simply man. Accordingly to Gottschald: Deutsche Namenskunde, 5. edition, Berlin New York 1982 HOFMANN can have one of the following origins: 1) a man living at a noble court (mansion) 2) a man running a farm (a farmer) 3) a man living and working at a farm.
