List, Does anyone know if this work has been completed for immigration lists 53, ship Glasgow; 79, ship Robert & Alice; 115, ship Two Brothers; and 119, ship Mary Galley? Is this work still being done? If so, where can it be found? Yesterday I was at the local FHC and found a 1969 paper written by Dr. Fritz Braun, "World Conference on Records and Genealogical Seminar," in which he had plans for locating . . . places of origin of the immigrants. . ." He states, "For the Palatinate area, we have established the 'Heimatstelle Pfalz' in Kaiserslautern, which is under my direction. We have an extensive card file containing date on emigrants. This card file is subdivided according to surnames, places of origin and destination and is constantly being supplemented with new information concerning the country of origin as well as destination. . . ". . .I can show you some examples and for this purpose have selected the passenger lists No. 1, 11, 58 and 189. . . "List 1) The majority of the emigrants of the ship 'William and Sarah' came from Kraischgau and the vicinity of Heidelberg. Among this group many persons are of Swiss origin. This coincides with the fact that many immigrants from Switzerland had settled in Kraischgau. "List 11) The emigrants on the ship 'Thistle of Glasgow' came mainly from the Rhine valley, that is from the 'Vorderpfalz' (fore-Palatinate) with a larger group from the Hassloch-Ludwigshafen area. "List 58) The majority of the passengers of the ship 'Glasgow' originated from the Kusel-Baumholder region, in the so-called 'Westrich,' that is the western part of the North-Palatine hill country. "List 189) The places of origin are known of 22 of the 74 emigrants on the ship 'Snow Ketty.' Seventeen of these came from Edenkoben. The other places which have been found so far are all near Edenkoben. ". . .The sooner we can complete the ships registers in this way here in the country of origin, the sooner we will be able to reconstruct the places of origin for a larger number of emigrants. . ." Anyone knowing of additional information on this project please reply to the entire list since it is surely of interest to many. Thank you sincerely, Margery Borger Sacramento, CA
