I am new to the Pfalz list. Have just discovered that my Win/Wind line is originally from Marpingen, St. Wendel, Saarland. Michael WIN was born in 1758, in what was then Marpingen, Lotharingia and immigrated to the Banat area of the Austrian Hungarian Empire (now part of Romania) sometime between 1761 and 1780. Michael was son of Joannes Petri WIN and Elisabetha KLEIN, who married 10 June 1753. Other surnames associated with this family: CZENTZ and ALT. The FHC microfilm is of very poor quality due to deterioration of the primary documents. It appears that Joannes Petri WIN was from a nearby valley that started with the letters Ez or Ex. It looks like ThalExirabo. Is anyone aware of a valley near Marpingen that might possibly fit or be anywhere near this spelling? Thank you for any advice or guidance. Jan Shingle Springs, CA
