    3. Folks- I cannot answer the question at at hand although the suggestion of the nearest Church for a dying newborn is something that did happen often. The Schacke family-like many at the time- seems to have had more than its share of early deaths. I do know something about Kirchheimbolanden. Religiously, it was a fairly cosmopolitan place in the early 18th century. I did have -but seem to have lost- a CD of the transcriptions for all three churches: Katholische, Evangelische and Reformiert. The Roman Catholic Church goes back to the 17th century and so does, I think, the Lutheran. The Reformed (Calvinist) Church is newer as my ancestors first were registered in nearly Marnheim as teh KB Parish only functioned after the first decade or so of the 18th century. The Ducal rulers of the Pfalz at the time were Reformed, the Dukes of Nassau-Weilburg. My ancestors followed them from Hesse, back into the depopulated Pfalz. The only folks who were forced to be registered in a Parish not of their choice were the Jews, a practice common at the time. They generally appear in the Parish listing of the ruler's choice.
