Not quite. it depends on each church archives. Some don't care. Some do. You have to check the Family History Library Catalog (www.familysearch.org) for any restriction. They are always listed if there's restriction. I know for sure the Catholic parish records held at Trier are under such restriction. If the parish records were filmed at the parish office, they may or may not be restricted. good example are Saarbrucken, Zweibrucken and Homburg. Zweibrucken's Roman Catholic aren't restricted (they're from Bitsumarchiv Speyer) Homburg's Roman Catholic records are mixed. (Homburg is part of Saarland now) Sankt Michael's - from parish Sankt Andreas' - from Bistumarchiv Speyer while Saarbrucken's Sankt Johann: Roman Catholic - RESTRICTED - from Bistumsarchiv Trier Evangelical Kirche - not restricted - from Dusseldorf Archives A check on Kaiserslautern's Catholic -they are not restricted - from different archives. Saarbrucken, Homburg and Zweibrucken are very close to each other among the border with France. Really it depends on which archives the records came from. W.
