Marianne, The LDS Family History Library catalog (http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp) lists both Fraulautern (records starting in 1695) and Nachtsheim (records starting in 1660) as in Germany, Preußen, Rheinland. We must remember that Saarland is a fairly modern creation in Germany (see http://www.saar-genealogie.de/). Prior to that time this region was called Rheinland Prussia. BTW, that book is listed as in the FHL in Salt Lake City, UT, USA. Only microfilms and microfiche may be rented at your local Family History Center in Edmonton. You may order a lookup at the SLC FHL for specific pages (order the index first then followup with specific pages). I might add that that is not one of the Saarland books for sale at the Ludweiler Genealogical Museum in Saarland (http://home.t-online.de/home/bauernfeind.hermann/hkv-buch.htm). >Date: Mon, 13 Nov 2000 22:20:17 -0800 >From: "Marianne Kessler" <kessler@freenet.edmonton.ab.ca> >To: PFALZ-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [PFALZ] Fraulautern > >Where would I find Fraulautern in the parish district of Nachtsheim? > >I found "Fraulautern" in the Saarland and "Nachtsheim" in Rheinland Pfalz >which must mean that these are not the places I am looking for.
