I am confused about the first 4-5 volumes of the "Germans to America" series. I noticed that in Volumes 1 & 2 there is no real designation given to 'Unknown Village' of the immigrants in the key. In the key at the beginning of Volumes 3 & 4, OOO is the designation for 'Unknown Village'. In Volumes 1, 2, 3, & 4, OOO is also the designation for the village Obermoellrich when it is mentioned. I have noticed in these 4 volumes that there are many immigrants with the village designation OOO. It is my belief that all these hundreds of people could not have possibly come from this one village. My ancestor had the OOO designation for his village of origin and I know that Obermoellrich has not been one of the villages mentioned in my research of this ancestor. Has anyone else noticed this discrepancy/contradiction? Would someone please explain how to understand and decipher this information in the "Germans to America"? Thank you, Kathy
