I am new to this list, I am searching for my ggrandmother Maria Anna Schmidt, b. Sept. 29, 1840 or 41, from Schifferstadt, Canton Speyer, Rhenish, Baveria. She had a brother Martin, who changed his name to Smith after coming to the US. He settled in New York City or Brooklyn and later sent back for his Sister. I think Maria came to the US about 1858. In 1862 Maria Anna Schmidt married Philip List in the Lutheran Reformed Church on Suffolk St., New York City. Their first child Wilhiem Henirich List, was born Sept. 19, 1864 and baptized in the same Church. They moved to Detroit, Michigan about 1866. If anyone can find anything on this family it would sure help me to fill in more of my Family Tree. Thank you all. Ruth
