    3. Katherine, >From the Berliner Journal 21 May 1874: GERMANN Carl 15 May 1874 at the home of his son in Waterloo Village, Carl Germann of New Hamburg died at 72 years of age http://www.waterlooogs.ca/Newspapers/BerlinerJournal1873-77Deaths.PDF >From the Berliner Journal 22 Dec 1881: GERMANN Susannah 20 Dec 1881 Susannah Germann, widow of Carl Germann of New Hamburg, died in Waterloo at age of 72 years, 10 months and 8 days http://www.waterlooogs.ca/Newspapers/BerlinerJournal1881Deaths.PDF (note: Present day Kitchener, Ontario was originally named Berlin - the name was changed during WW1) You are correct in assuming New Hamburg (and a large area surrounding) had a considerable number of German settlers. Have you done any research on your Carl Germann and Susannah Koch in Waterloo County, Ontario? The Kitchener Public Library has an extensive collection of local history, perhaps there is a more detailed obituary or biography on Carl Germann. Feel free to contact me off-list if you haven't already gone this route, I'd be happy to have a look for you.
