    3. Hello listers, I am searching for the ancestors of Carl GERMANN b Meisenheim 21st Jan 1802 and Susannah KOCH b Meisenheim ,15 Feb 1810 . They would have married about 1836/7 in Meisenheim,Germany. They emigrated to Ontario Canada in 1850 and settled in New Hamburg. They would have been Protestants. Are there any church records that some kind soul could access for me? Katherine O'Regan New Zealand.

Almost all church and civil records of the Pfalz area have been extracted by the LDS and are in IGI records. bob gillis

    3. Dear Bob, Many thanks indeed for all your useful information. To tell you the truth I cannot remember where I found the date for Carl GERMANN's birth but the year was 1802 - that was given to me by my former mother in law some 20 years ago and I presume she had had it passed down to her. Also the marriage to Susannah KOCH. Charles Frederick seems a very common name combination. One of the sons was born during the crossing to Canada and he was born in 1850. New Hamburg is south west of Canada - Encarta Atlas shows it. Carl Germanns son Charles Frederick married a Katherine Scott whose father, William Scott was one of the founding fathers - but with a name like New Hamburg one presumes that there was considerable German emigration to that area. This was all we know of him - "He was tall and distinguished looking with a striking military bearing, no doubt acquired by a period of military service in the Army. He received a good education and was disposed to be strict and businesslike. On arrival in New Hamburg he bought a hotel Also owned and operated a tannery He was 72 when he died." I need a marriage certificate which will give me Carl's parentage. Kind regards, Katherine ----- Original Message ----- From: "bob gillis" <robertgillis@verizon.net> To: <pfalz@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, March 05, 2007 4:54 AM Subject: Re: [Pfalz] GERMANN. The closest per encarta is Hamburg New York near Buffalo NY. It is south of Ontario. There is a Carl Germann in a Worldconnect file on rootsweb.com that matches the info you have given. Find the file and contact the submitter. I think it has amny eroors and inconsistancies in it. The info in the file is as vague as you have. One of Frederick Charles sisters married a Scott also and went to NZ. Ask on the Erie County NY list or message board for a lookup in the 1860 and earlier Ccensus for Carl German living perhpas in Hamburg. the WC file has Chrstian, another son having a daughter in Plattsville. This is not found in Eencarta either but there is a Platteville in Wisconsin. Maybe that is where New Hamburg was. Ask on the Wisconsin Message Board about New hamburg and a look up for Carl Germann. bob gillis > >Carl Germanns son Charles Frederick married a Katherine Scott whose father, >William Scott was one of the founding fathers - but with a name like New >Hamburg one presumes that there was considerable German emigration to that >area. This was all we know of him - > >"He was tall and distinguished looking with a striking military bearing, no >doubt acquired by a period of military service in the Army.
