    3. Wilhelm, I have no idea when or where records for Gossersweiler were made before 1732. But I can say that a few decades earlier Louis XIV's armies marched into the Pfalz and burned a lot of churches and other things. (Those that hadn't already been burned down in the Thirty Years' War.) A lot of records went up in smoke. Many churches did not restart records until quite a while later. I have no idea if that happened in Gossersweiler. One person wrote and said the church wasn't open until 1732. It may have been new. Or it may have been rebuilt. Records are burned up in every war. The current wars are no different. And it is still disturbing to me that history is being destroyed. Somehow, I can't help but think that we should know better by now. I guess it is just the way of the world. At least I have the satisfaction of knowing that if a bunch of genealogists were fighting, they probably wouldn't burn valuable records up!
