I apologise for the duplicate post. I forgot to fill in the subject line. I am researching several unrelated ancestors in the Pfalz. each of them give their birthplace as Bavaria, but they were from the Pfalz area of Germany they are; Jacob and Christopher Dunheiffer. first, what spelling would their name be in Germany? would it be Dunhoff? I can find very little regarding the name as I have it. Jacob was born about 1804 in Bavaria. we know little of his time in Germany beyond this, except that he came to America sometime before 1840. Christopher is likely to be his brother, also born in the period 1800-1810, and living in the same town as Jacob, which is Cambridge, Ohio, U.S.A. Jacob is my fiance's ancestor. Christen Ultsch, aka Christopher. he was born about 1833 in Bavaria. we know little of his time in Germany except that he left on the Weser or Wessler in 1872 and arrived in America on 20 Jul 1872. he settled in Erie, Pennsylvania. he is my late husband\'s ancestor. Johann(es) Weyrauch. he was born about 1785 and says on his immigration record that he was born in Bavaria and was from Bergzabern, Spire, Bavaria. I contacted the archives in Spire and they couldn't find anything on him. he died in 1848 in the area of Johnstown, Pennsylvania and there is little in the way of a record for him. his immigration says he left Havre de Grace on 3 Apr 1831 and arrived in New York on 15 May 1831. he is my ancestor. if anyone can give me guidance to tracing these people in Germany, I would greatly appreciate it. their christening/baptism records are not in the International Genealogical Index at FamilySearch.org as far as I can tell. I also have a Charles Wagner, b. abt 1855 Poland or Rusia son of German parennt(s) Anton and Thecla Wagner, but I do not know where they came from. they left Germany around the time of the civil war, settled in Poland or Russia, removed to England and Charles came to America. there is virtually no paper trail, most of my information for the Wagners comes from vaguely remembered family stories. Charles is a great grandfather of mine. regards, Cornelia
